Snowflakes Up Close

Snowflakes are pretty amazing. 

It's hard to believe that these tiny, geometric shapes are made naturally through the crystallization of water. Sometimes you catch a perfect snowflake on your mitten, but the magic is fleeting and there's only so much detail that your naked eye can see. 

Snowflake photography takes a lot of patience and careful efforts, but the results are incredible, because a camera lens is able to magnify and capture each snowflake's beauty.

We found a very talented young photographer named Alexy Klijatov from Russia who has captured some incredible macro photos of snowflakes. Check out his work below and read about his technique on his blog.
