"If you can't handle me at my chilliest, you don't deserve me at my most prettiest." - Winter

For all the wooly accessories you need for winter in the Canadian Rockies, the snowiest season here is truly jaw-droppingly beautiful. The landscape is sparkling and there's just something extra dazzling about the sun during this time of year. Although its an adventure that must truly be experienced in person, these pictures manage to capture some of the magic of Jasper in winter.

See? This is what we're talking about. This image, captured by a local photographer (check out his guided photography tours here) shows the soft pastel colours that often go unsung this season.

We'll never get tired of a red pop of colour against a monochrome winter background. So chic. So timeless.

There's plenty of Jasper landmarks that are amazing in the summer, but truly other-worldly in the winter. Sunwapta Falls is one of those places.

When you're prepared with proper gear, that's when you can best enjoy winter's beauty. As this travelling couple says: "If we don't embrace the cold now, we'll never be able to enjoy nature's unseen beauty."

Winter is when things slow down, so it only makes sense that it's also the perfect time to relax.

You know that saying about how a picture is worth a thousand words? EXHIBIT A.

Even self-described "summer babies" can't help falling in love with winter.

Did you hear that Marmot Basin ski resort is now open for the season??

Does anyone else's dog just go absolutely NUTS when frolicking in the snow? It's hard not to catch some of their enthusiasm.
