While the Alpenflora brand is new (the name was inspired by alpenglow and high mountain flowers and plants) the shop itself has been working with florals for 30 years. Originally called Elysion, the shop feels like a hidden gem—it is located a few metres down a courtyard off of Connaught Dr. (specifically, 622 Connaught Dr, Unit B). You'll know you're close by the pleasant wafts of fresh flowers.

"We're still your friendly, local flower shop," says owner Colleen Chalifoux. "We are perfect for those that yearn for a flowerfilled life. That's where we shine. We know how to make life lovely."

While Alpenflora is a stellar spot to grab a gift, some seeds, or their stunning and unique bouquets of the week, this full-service flower studio is also the only business in town offering convenient, bespoke floral design services. Planning a wedding? They happily collaborate with other event vendors. Have a unique vision? Their passionate team of designers work to beautify your special moments.

"My life revolves around flowers," says Chalifoux. "And I wouldn't have it any other way."

Chalifoux is warm and energetic, and it's a joy to watch customers enter the shop and immediately smile. She and her staff take the time to explain the care instructions of each plant and find options to suit, from a easy-going pothos to a zany striped tropical option that looks plucked from the set of Jurassic Park. A wide selection of beautiful pots provide chic homes for whatever plant you choose.

Living a flower-filled life is about more than just running a flower shop, Chalifoux explains. It's about "selectively choosing ways to make life more lovely. Living more intentionally, purposefully, and with ease. Enjoying small pleasures, simple delights and the little things that bring you joy."
