A wickedly wonderful reason to visit the Rockies

The 6th annual Jasper Pride Festival expands to four days!

Jasper, AB, February 9, 2015 – The 6th annual Jasper Pride Festival is returning this March 19-22nd to the Canadian Rockies , and is sure be the longest, largest and most exciting one to date. Due to its popularity, the Festival has been extended to a full four days, filled with both returning favorites and new.

This unique Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Allied (LGBTQA) Festival started in 2009 as a small local event, and has since grown far beyond Jasper’s borders, now attracting hundreds of visitors from both Canada and internationally. Jasper has long been known as gay-friendly, eclectic and open-minded. The mountain town is proud to again host the only Winter Pride Festival in the Canadian Rockies, and in a Canadian National Park. This year’s fabulous theme – Wicked White Winter - sets the tone for the four days of festivities. According to the Festival Society Co-Chair, Susan McCarthy, “this year’s motto is all encompassing of everything we love about Jasper. It stands for the white winter wonderland that is Jasper and for the wickedness of it all”. Supporting this theme, the Festival is jam-packed with outdoor activities including favorites such as dress-up & games at Marmot Basin and guided Maligne Canyon Icewalks. New this year are the “Wicked White Winter Walks”, a guided snowshoe at Maligne Lake, “Sledding with Pride”, a guided dogsledding excursion, and Family Pride activities at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

Enticing evening entertainment includes a welcome mixer at Jasper’s newest hotel - The Crimson, a movie night, karaoke with Queens of the Night, a Women Pride Party with musical guest Three is the Equilibrium of the Unities, and performances by Edmonton’s own Capital City Burlesque.

The Festival'’s signature event, ‘Wicked White Winter’ Pride Dress-up Party and Drag Show, will welcome well-known Canadian radio and television personality Mike Chalut as host. Held within the beautiful Beauvert Room at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, this evening will see guests dress-up in their best ‘Wicked Whites’.
