The perfect two-day Jasper itinerary, according to these expat actors

2 minute read

Pieter van Loon and Joost Tijssen haven't necessarily been Jasper locals for long, but they've squeezed a lot of exploring into their time living in their adoptive town. With the launch of their new theatre production company and new show From Jasper, With Love, they're making their mark on this close-knit community and shining a spotlight on everything that makes Jasper beautiful, hilarious, and unique. Here, they share some of their favourite ways to spend time in the national park.

Get more of their story in the tenth episode of Venture Beyond: The Series.

Day 1

Lake Edith

Morning – Lake Annette and Lake Edith

Get some nice coffee to go at one of the local java joints and head to some of Jasper's beautiful nearby lakes. Both picnic-friendly with walking trails in the area, Pieter and Joost recommend taking your time here and simply relaxing over breakfast with a view.

Jasper Food Tour

Afternoon - Food Tour

If there's one thing Pieter and Joost love, it's enjoying good food and drink in beautiful places. On this Downtown Foodie tour, you'll also meet new people and learn more about Jasper. It is something different and that's what the duo loves about it.

Evening - Jasper Theatre Productions

After a long day exploring all the beautiful things here in Jasper, you can just relax and have fun at this live theatre show. And you can even have a drink before the show as well. The perfect evening activity!

Day 2

Morning – Old Fort Point

The perfect hike with a gorgeous 360 degree view over the valley. Pieter and Joost love to do this short but steep hike with their dog. It's the perfect view to see how the town of Jasper sits in the valley.

Afternoon - Patio

It's time for one of Pieter and Joost's favourite activities: hitting the patio! Jasper has great outdoor dining options, and of course all served with delicious food and drinks. If it's nice out, there's a good chance you might see the duo enjoying a bevvy or two on one of Jasper's patios.

Warrior Women

Evening - Fireside Chat

Finally, end the journey with a beautiful and unique experience with Warrior Women's Matricia Bauer. A local Indigenous Knowledge Keeper, Bauer sings, tells stories, and answers questions through this extraordinary must-do.
