With mountain views as delicious as the ones at Tekarra Restaurant, who needs charcuterie (just kidding—give us the meat and cheese board and no one gets hurt).

Tekarra Restaurant, located a short bike ride outside downtown Jasper, sits on a ridge overlooking the Athabasca River. With its cabin feel, Canadiana decor, and mouthwatering menu that features plenty of Alberta-local protein like elk, bison, and wild boar, this foodie haven is well worth leaving the beaten path.

But beyond the cozy interior and the delightful patio (families with young'uns take note: there's a playground just around the corner), another memorable dining option awaits: the most scenic picnic ever.

Whether you'd like to enjoy some appetizers and drinks (the entire property is licenced) outside before heading in for a full meal, or you have a full picnic extravaganza in mind, Tekarra Restaurant is happy to bring your orders out to the clearing nearby. There's comfortable and iconic red Adirondack chairs to sit on, or you can bring your own picnic blanket for a romantic sunset soirée. Afterwards, there are sometimes s'mores to be roasted over an on-site fire pit.

Only open from the May long weekend to after Thanksgiving in October, this spot is a can't-miss Canuck culinary experience. Tekarra Restaurant serves up breakfast and dinner, and also offers vegetarian and gluten-free options alongside many craft beers and an extensive wine list. Reservations are recommended.
