Wonders of Jasper and the Ecology of fire
by SunDog Tours
Experience some of the most spectacular and awe-inspiring areas of Jasper and witness the dramatic and transformational effects of the recent wildfire. With visitation just recently beginning to return, the park is experiencing a tranquility that is unusual during the typically busy summer season.
Your tour will begin with a drive to Patricia and Pyramid Lakes, one of the most stunning destinations in all of Jasper National Park, and an area that was untouched by the fire. Enjoy a short walk over a rustic footbridge to Pyramid Island to enjoy incredible views of the lake, while marveling at towering Pyramid Mountain.
From here we will continue through the town of Jasper to see and learn about the effects of the fire on our town and the ongoing recovery effort. We will continue to the east of Jasper to visit areas of the park that were burned and are already showing signs of renewal. The regenerative effects of fire on old-growth forest and the abundant wildlife that continue to reside here is fascinating. To witness, first-hand, the resilience and adaptability of our animals, and the ecological rebirth of some of the most iconic landscapes in the Canadian Rockies is a rare and exceptional opportunity.
