Shovel Pass Lodge

Of the many charms that make up this backcountry lodge, the most obvious is its location. Situated in the middle of the famous Skyline Trail and accessible primarily by a 21 kilometre (13 mile) hike, this unique collection of cabins rewards those who make the journey to get there. The iconic trek passes remote lakes, panoramic ridges, and alpine meadows before arriving at Shovel Pass Lodge, where coffee and treats await the staying guests. Hikers need only bring a daypack as the lodge provides warm bedding and hearty, homecooked meals served family style in the main building. As the only lodge of its kind in the national park, it offers stunning mountain scenery, friendly hospitality, and rugged comfort in a place that most people must sleep in a tent to see. Stay multiple nights to fully explore the region before hiking back to the trailhead. Open July 1 to September 15.
