We get to see a lot of shared images of Jasper, and we have to say: we are constantly astounded by the photographic talent we see from both locals and visitors alike. So we've started highlighting a few of our favourites every month on our website. I will never forget this night... ____________________________________________ . I planned my entire trip to Canada around the northern lights. I had always wanted to see them but never was in the right place at the right time. When planning for my trip, I checked the aurora forecast and planned to be the farthest north I could be during a possible showing. The aurora is elusive in that sometimes there “should” be a showing but there isn’t. They are hard to predict. I stayed the night around Pyramid lake in Jasper and watched the sunset there. I took a small nap to allow for the sky to darken and awoke to a glow on the horizon. At about midnight, the sky exploded with dancing lights. It was unlike anything I had ever seen or maybe ever will see again and I am thankful I got to witness them. As the days shorten, there's never been a better time to explore Jasper's designated dark sky preserve. Wait we take that back. The best time to explore Jasper's designated dark sky preserve is from October 12-21, during Jasper's Dark Sky Festival!
