Avalanche Skills Training (AST1)

Join Rockaboo for an educational and fun AST 1. The focus of our Avalanche Skills Training 1 (AST1) program is on preparing people to make informed decisions in avalanche terrain and understand the risks in which they are engaging. It is a great way to gain a foundation in avalanche awareness and safety.

We believe in offering this course in a positive learning environment and are committed to passing on the important messages that increase your safety in the mountains. The course includes 2 components; an online classroom element and a practical field day. If you're completely new to ski touring or splitboarding, you can learn the fundamental techniques during your field day at Marmot Basin.

This national certification course uses the curriculum and student handbooks provided by Avalanche Canada and is delivered by our professional ACMG accredited instructors. With years of practical experience delivering AST courses to the Jasper, Valemount, McBride and Robson Valley areas, we’re excited to share our backcountry knowledge with you.
