Top 6 Photo Ops at Maligne Lake

Maligne Lake boasts some of the Park's most gorgeous views. It's perfect for professional and amateur photographers alike to capture some quintessential Rocky Mountain shots. 

Spirit Island

Spirit Island, one the most photographed locations in the park, is located 14 km up the lake and only accessible by a tour boat or non-motorized craft such as canoe or kayak.

The Boat House

Donald ‘Curly’ Philips built the Maligne Lake Boat House in 1928 for his guiding and fishing business. The historic building makes for a perfect subject to focus on when snapping shots of the scenic area.

Coronet Creek Campground

The 21.3 km paddle effort is worth it! Don’t call it a night without getting some dark sky shots under the stars. In the early morning, catch the glow of the sky and calm of the water from shore before heading out.

Hall of the Gods

With the perfect symmetry of the mountains in the background, photographers love to get this shot. Paddle your way into the middle of the lake and capture the front of your boat in the ‘Hall of Gods’.
