Jasper in January Puts a Spin on Winter
Canada’s First Ever Fat Bike Summit & Race Comes to the Real Rockies
Jasper, Canada (November 21, 2016)
The 28th annual Jasper in January will be putting a new spin on regular winter activities thanks to a new , partnership with Frosty’s Fat Bike Race Series.
Canada’s first ever Fat Bike Summit Race will take place in Jasper from January 12 – 14, 2017. Jasper Fat Bike Race & Summit Powered by Frosty’s Fat Bike Race Series offers an opportunity for cyclists to truly test their skills and fitness in the added difficulty that winter weather brings. Paired with the towering mountains in Jasper National Park, this will be a one of a kind adventure for the thrill-seeking mountain bikers.
“Frosty’s Fat Bike Race Series is beyond excited to partner with Tourism Jasper for our first international event,” says Randal Gibb, Frosty’s Race Promoter. “We are certain that this will be the premier winter cycling event and should not be missed!”
Since 2011, Frosty’s Fat Bike Race Series has been hosting winter fat bike racing events throughout the United States and building on the excitement surrounding fat bikes. Fat bike tires are almost twice the size of regular summer mountain biking tires, allowing the cyclist to stay on top of the snow rather than fighting against it to move. With the extra accessibility to this wintery new cycling terrain, it’s no surprise that fat biking has been quickly rising in popularity over the past few years.
The mountains are no longer off limits for the adventurous cyclist. With a Cross Country (XC) Night Race at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge on January 12, a Dual Slalom race at Marmot Basin Ski Resort on January 13, and the Endurance Race around beautiful Pyramid Lake on January 14 there are opportunities for cyclists of all levels. It’s time to gear up and get fat for some mountain biking excitement in Jasper, Canada’s base of adventure.
