Virtual events during Jasper in January

From January 15 to 31, Jasper will be celebrating the spirit of winter in a different way than usual. You'll see many COVID-19-friendly changes to this month's available activities, but there's still plenty of ways to explore with members of your household, including many virtual options.

Though certain details are subject to change based on evolving regulations, here’s a bit of what to expect during Jasper in January.

Jasper Virtual Race Series

Race in the mountains at your convenience, using the self-powered transportation method of your choosing! Run, snowshoe, cycle or cross-country ski in Jasper National Park on any day in January, via a racing platform that offers multiple race options.

How This Works: You register for the race of your choice through raceroster.com. Once in Jasper, race your segment whenever you wish. Just remember to join our Strava group and log your race. Visit the sponsors to collect discounts and more swag with your race registration.

Marmot Basin Events

Jasper's beloved ski resort has found multiple ways to bring a sense of revelry to Jasper in January while maintaining complete distance between participants.

• The Epic Edit Virtual Competition will have participants gather video footage of themselves catching air, doing tricks and showing off their unique style using any natural or man-made features around Marmot Basin. Judges will review the footage, and if you enter the competition by January 31 you might win some epic swag, including a $100 voucher for the Outer Limits retail store for use this season!
• To celebrate World Snow Day, everyone who's on the mountain January 17 and 18 should tag @marmotbasin in their photos and include the #JnJ2021 and #JasperinJanuary hashtags!
• Get your thinking cap on for the Scavenger Hunt Photo Challenge! Using a downloadable task sheet, complete a variety of activities and score yourself a Marmot Basin swag pack, including a $25 voucher for our Outer Limits retail store on your next visit! Full details to come.

Jasper Planetarium virtual shows

When it comes to exploring Jasper's Dark Sky Preserve, there's no better way than with the Jasper Planetarium. Starting soon, their fascinating Planetarium show and live telescope viewing will be available through fully interactive experiences via Zoom Webinar. Stay tuned for details.
