If there's one thing that never fails to put us in the mood for a movie, it's the smell of popcorn. Whether eaten kernel by kernel (as if) or by the fistful (more accurate), popcorn has an undeniable association with film. But while there's nothing wrong with gorging on the buttery, salty puffs — *checks shoulder for lurking nutritionist* — an upcoming festival would like to expand your horizons. The inaugural DEVOUR! The Canadian Rockies Food Film Festival is coming to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge March 2 - 4, and promises to be a can't-miss sensory experience.
The event will celebrate food and film is exquisite style, with celebrity chefs creating menus inspired by curated movies. Over the course of the weekend, attendees will experience a cabin crawl (themes include: a maritime kitchen party, carnivore cabin, and Rocky Mountain après ski), roasting s'mores beneath the stars, wine-tasting, cooking demonstrations, a chili cook-off, live music and a six-course gala dinner with an accompanying short film to match each dish.
Top notch culinary guests such as Michael Howell, Paul Rogalski, Blair Lebsack, Connie DeSousa and John Jackson are coming from across Alberta and beyond, and represent some of Canada's most prestigious restaurants. Among the drool-worthy creations they've got planned are seared scallops on crispy pork belly, hand rolled cavatelli, recardo negro shrimp tostado, black candied duck breast, and much more. Each dish will of course be perfectly paired with a complementary wine.
Rates: Starting from $449 CAD per person, based on double occupancy in a Fairmont Room (subject to hotel availability). Package must be booked as a minimum two night Stay – March 2 & 3, 2018.
