Kids Space Facts #2 - Planetary Points

Ready for some more Space Facts?

Our team of Kid Fact Finders has some fun "Did You Know's" about planets:

Hot Hot Heat

Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system with a surface temperature of over 450 degrees celcius.

Put a Ring on It

Saturn isn't the only ringed planet, other gas giants like Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune also have rings, they are just less obvious.

Small Fry

In 2006, astronomers changed the definition of a planet. This means that Pluto is now referred to as a dwarf planet.

That's One Way to Diet

Because of lower gravity, a person who weighs 200 pounds on earth would only weigh 76 pounds on the surface of Mars.

Going Sideways

The only planet that rotates on its side like a barrel is Uranus. The only one that spins backwards relative to the rest is Venus.

What's in a Name?

Jupiter's 4 biggest moons are named Europa, Ganymede, Callisto and Io.
