Jasper featured among Canada's Top Signature Winter Experiences

From ice climbing to slope shredding to star gazing, these wintry Jasper activities are not to be missed.

Flight Network has released their 2018 roundup of the best winter must-do's in Canada, and multiple Jasper activities made the list.

For winter funtimes, there's no better country than Canada. And across this chilly land, there's no better spot than Jasper National Park to make the best of the chillier seasons. In their new story 'The Top Signature Winter Experiences in Canada 2018', Canadian-owned online travel agency Flight Network describes Jasper's Marmot Basin skiing, Maligne Canyon icewalk, ice climbing and Dark Sky Festival (along with the other highlighted destinations from across Canada) as "the epitome of adventure, invigoration, and culture of Canada and its people."

Skiing at Marmot Basin

Over 1,000 acres of snowy white slopes stand majestically in front of you. The wind whips your hair while you set off on a Canadian ski adventure at Marmot Basin. Jasper, Canada welcomes all wanderlust travelers to experience memorable ski adventures along with comfortable resorts, amenities, and delectable restaurants. It can all be your winter wonderland. 

The Details: Skiing at Marmot Basin is located in Jasper, Alberta and runs from November to early May. The cost per person is $30-$90, depending on activity chosen, and will create an amazing excursion for any intrepid traveler.

Maligne Canyon Icewalk

Recognised as a signature experience by the Canadian Tourism Commission, the Maligne Canyon Icewalk is an adventure for all thrill seekers. Travelers will be led by experts to see ice caves, fossils, frozen waterfalls, and more of Canada’s natural beauties on this walking tour. 

The Details: Maligne Adventures are based out of Jasper, Alberta, Canada, while the daily ice walks depart at 9 AM and 1 PM and last 3 hours. The 6PM Headlamp Tour takes the same track through dusky twilight. The experience runs from December 15 to April 10 for $69 per person.

Ice Climbing in Jasper with Rockaboo Mountain Adventures

As one of the top thrilling winter activities, ice climbing can be accessed by any level of expertise. From beginning to expert, find yourself ice climbing in Jasper with Rockaboo Mountain Adventures. Expert guides will teach you the art behind ice climbing and allow for you to explore your newfound skills safely while also feeling the exhilaration of the climb from long alpine ice route to short bolted climbs. 

The Details: The Canadian Rocky Mountains are the most beautiful backdrop to the Rockaboo Mountain Adventures, located in Jasper, Alberta. The winter excursion runs from December 1 to March 31 and will cost $225 for group climbs or $500 for private guided trips.

Jasper Dark Sky Festival

For those who crave sensational experience while maintaining a healthy environment around them, the Jasper Dark Sky Festival is a wonderful winter festivity. Recognised as a Day Sky Preserve bu Canada’s Royal Astronomical Society, Jasper invites all to participate in a rustic festival which presents the beauties of an uninterrupted night sky. Take part in stargazing, listening to the amazing speakers, as well as a participating in a number of various activities throughout the festival. 

The Details: The Dark Sky Festival calls Jasper, Alberta, home and runs 2 weekends in the chilly October time, though Jasper Dark Sky recommends any winter day to stargaze. The event is free to the public though some events which occur require a paid ticket.
