11 ideas for an unforgettably romantic Valentine's in the mountains

Planning the perfect Valentine's Day can be tricky. Jasper National Park makes it easier.

Roses are red,
Ice can be blue,
Spend Valentine's in Jasper,
For romance with a view.

In lieu of poetry, garner your sweetheart's affection with the following date ideas which work as well on Valentine's Day as they do any other day (love is year round, people).

Move over Tessa and Scott — there's a new pair of sweethearts in town! Here's the part where you and your better half enter from stage left, gliding hand in mittened hand. Jasper has oodles of glacier-fed lakes, and when they freeze come winter, they're arguably even more magical. If you lace up at Lake Mildred, not only will you have a groomed oval with mountains in the background, you'll also enjoy the convenience of renting skates from the nearby Winter Rental Shop on the grounds of the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. We're sure your rendition of "El Tango De Roxanne" will be just as enchanting as the one that earned Moir and Virtue some serious bragging rights.

Food Tour

Chocolate. Oysters. Watermelon. Get in the mood on Valentine's Day with these sensuous aphrodisiacs, gathered together along with other titillating treats (each is paired with a beverage) into one limited edition "Gastrodisiac" food tour. Led by longtime Jasper local Estelle Blanchette, the Jasper Food Tours is a great way to taste a variety of Rocky Mountain cuisine, while also getting a sense of the town's history and culture.
