Jasper in January Festival 2013

 

Jasper in January has two full weeks of packed events featuring all your favourites: kick off party, the street festival, fireworks, Mountain Park Lodges’ chili cook-off, dogsledding... plus hot deals on places to stay and hitting the slopes! Enjoy live music, and plenty of opportunities to hit the slopes up at Marmot Basin.

Saturday, Jan 12th

WiNTERSTRUCK! Pyramid Lake 11 am - 3 pm WiNTERSTRUCK! - a fun-filled day at Pyramid Lake where the whole family can enjoy all sorts of winter activities, free dogsledding rides, ice-skating, fire starting, and bannock bake.  Winter bocce, Aboriginal crafts in a teepee, and much more!
 Dogsledding Pyramid Lake   Free dog sled rides courtesy of Cold Fire Creek Dogsledding. Climb aboard Canada's oldest form of winter transportation. What better way to venture deep into the heart of the Canadian Rockies than behind a team of enthusiastic and friendly Alaskan Huskies!
 Ice Skating Pyramid Lake   Mountain Park Lodges will clear the ice, and have skates and snowshoes available to rent.  Warm up with hot chocolate, coffee, soup, and smores for sale in the boat house. The restaurant at Pyramid Lake Resort will be open, with the menu posted for additional food options.

Pyramid Lake   Mudslinging, snowshoe course, Cariole (loading and pulling wood-laden toboggans), and tug of war.
Fire Starting and Bannock Bake Pyramid Lake   Try your hand at lighting a fire with flint and steel, then bake some bannock on a stick for a warm, tasty treat.

Coco's Evening of Yoga and Raw Food  Coco's Cafe  6 - 9 pm

An evening at The River Stone Yoga Studio for the yoga portion of the evening, followed by dinner at Coco's. $65 includes 1 hour and 20 minutes of yoga, and a raw food dinner, desserts, and fresh juices.

Ladies night with shopping from the Traveling Tickle Trunk for safe, healthy, and high quality adult toys, as well as drink specials, DJ, and dancing after 9 pm.  This is a dress up event.

Jasper's first commercial ice bar! This full service bar will be joining up with Dog Days of Summer, who will be making their delicious hot dogs.

ATCO Family Street Party Patricia Street (from the Old Fire Hall to Tags) 6 - 9 pm Downtown Jasper becomes a magical, musical, activity-filled adventure during this signature event.  Street performers, live music, Aboriginal drumming, flashlight art, ice bar, Parks...followed by the ATCO Walk of Lights and fantastic fireworks.

Scavenger Hunt Marmot Basin 9 am - 2:30 pm

Enjoy a scavenger hunt on the ski hill!   A great way to spend time with the family, lots of great prizes!

Polar Bear Dip Patricia Lake 1 pm Raising funds for the Canadian Diabetes Association, dippers can win prizes for most sponsorship money raised, and for best costumes! We will be cutting a hole in the ice and participants will jump into the icy waters, and probably jump out quickly to warm up in the tent! 3rd Annual Moonlight Charity Skate The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge 6 - 8 pm Join us under the sparkling sky at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge for the 3rd Annual Moonlight Charity Skate. Purchase a paper luminary to light the ice loop around Lake Mildred and experience the magic of skating in the moonlight. Luminaries are available at Lake Mildred from 6 - 8 pm for $5 with all proceeds going to the Jasper Food Bank.

3-course meal, 1 free scotch, and traditional Robbie Burns entertainment all for $25.00. Tickets available in advance at The Other Paw or at the door of the Legion.  Get your tickets in advance - this fundraising event sells out every year.

Robbie Burn's Night is a fundraiser for the Jasper Legion.

Wine in Winter Chateau Jasper 7 - 10 pm

Jasper's mini food and wine festival. $25 allows you to sample a vast array of wines and hors d'oeuvres from around the world.  Tickets are available for advance purchase at the Chateau Jasper front desk. This is an adult only event.

Fascinating Avalanche Awareness talk, complete with search dog, and  explosive demos at Marmot Basin.
Tracks in the Snow Marmot Basin Lower Chalet 11 am - 1 pm Play some wildlife tracking games, or test your skill at identifying wildlife tracks. We’ll have an assortment of horns, antlers, skins, and skulls to get your hands on, and the latest info about wildlife research.
Winter Pentathlon Starts at the Aquatic Centre Parking Lot 11 am
