Whether you enjoy short cross-country ski loops with gentle slopes and spectacular sights, or longer challenging ski routes, Jasper is full of breath-taking cross-country skiing adventures. Trails take you through scores of beautiful valleys, past stunning lakes and mountain scenery. Cross-country ski and ski rental information is available at the Parks Canada Information Centre and local ski shops.
Recommended Ski Trails:
Close to the townsite, Ideal for beginners and families.
For novice skiers, the Lake Trail loop or the Moose Lake Trail offer easy skiing with a couple of gentle descents. More advanced skiers will find the 7.3 km Lorraine Lake loop a more challenging trail. The Evelyn Creek Loop, this loop is a 12 km, difficult trail that follows the Bald Hills fire road up to the Skyline Trail.
Athabasca Falls-Whirlpool Valley
This part of the park offers some great trails with fantastic views. One favorite is the 18 km Moab Lake Trail, which starts at the Meeting of the Waters picnic area 20 kilometres south of Jasper on highway 93A. Whirlpool Campground Trail is an easy 4.5 kilometres starting at the Moab Lake trailhead reached via the Athabasca Falls turnoff on the Icefields Parkway.
The Pyramid Bench
Trails here begin off Pyramid Lake Road. You can either ski right from town or drive up to one of the two parking areas near Pyramid Lake. Skier set track.
