Jasper in January: Adventures Weekend Itinerary


Jasper in January kicks off with the adventures weekend filled with events and activities ready for explorers of all ages and levels.



Checking out the amazing list of events may lead you to thinking “Oh my gosh! So much to do, so little time!” So we’ve got you covered with an itinerary that will take you on adventures galore throughout the entire weekend! 

Thursday, January 12:

Check into your amazing accommodations right here in Jasper! You really can’t go wrong, so take your pick from these great hotels and resorts.

Start your weekend early with the Jasper Fat Bike Race & Summit Presented by Frosty’s Fat Bike Race Series

12:00PM | FROSTY’S VIP MEET & GREET LUNCH 

Join other outdoor biking enthusiasts and enjoy an amazing lunch at Jasper’s own local brewery – Jasper Brewing Co. for Frosty’s VIP Meet & Greet Lunch

2:00PM | ICE SKATING

 Head over to Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge for one of the most scenic ice skating circles in the Rockies. Warm up your legs and prepare for the upcoming race – you’re in the right place.

4:30PM | CROSS COUNTRY FAT BIKE RACE

 Make sure you’re registered for the Cross Country Fat Bike Race. With races for cyclists of all ages and skill levels, you’re guaranteed to find your perfect group to compete with on this 4km race.

7:00PM | DINNER AT FAMOSO’S NEAPOLITAN PIZZERIA

Grab a slice and build up your energy at Famoso’s Neapolitan Pizzeria. Regain your strength with necessities like cheesy goodness and beautiful crispy crust so you’re prepped and ready for your day filled with adventure tomorrow!


Friday, January 13:

Start your day bright and early with some breakfast at Coco's Cafe. Try out the breakfast wrap and we can assure you that you will not be disappointed!

9:00AM | FROSTY’S DOWNHILL FAT BIKE RACE

Test your skills and speed at Frosy’s Dual Slalom Fat Bike Race. It’s a race against time as cyclists have a warm up and two timed runs down the best mountain in the Rockies – Marmot Basin. The combined times of both races will be added up and the fastest racer wins! Time to figure out how much you depend on your brakes!

2:30PM | FAT BIKE SUMMIT & DEMO

How much do you really know about fat biking? Find out at the Fat Bike Summit & Demo at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Learn more about these super sweet bikes and take some test rides to figure out your favorites.

5:30PM | DINNER AT EVIL DAVE’S GRILL

It’s time to wind down and treat your taste buds with the devilishly delicious dishes from Evil Dave’s Grill.

7:00PM | DARK SKY STORIES

Join a Parks Canada interpreter at Marmot Meadows for some fireside First Nations Dark Sky Stories and ceremonies while enjoying bannock & tea. It’s a unique experience to enjoy while visiting one of the largest Dark Sky Preserves in the world!

9:00PM | KICK OFF PARTY     

Join us for the annual Kick Off Party at the Whistle Stop Pub. Sample great food and beverages, meet fun people and have an amazing time. Sorry kids, but this one is 18+ so we’ll see you for adventures in the morning. 


Saturday, January 14:


8:00AM | FROSTY’S FAT BIKE ENDURANCE RACE

Start your day off with an epic ride around Pyramid Lake with Frosty’s Fat Bike Endurance Race. Test your peddling prowess wth this 50km course pas the beautifully scenic Pyramid Lake and Mountain.

OR if you’re feeling a little ragged after the Kick Off Party:

11:00AM | COLD FIRE CREEK DOG SLEDDING

What better way to venture deep into the heard of the Canadian Rockies than behind a team of the cutest enthusiastic Alaskan huskies. Join us on a dog sledding adventure with Cold Fire Creek Dogsledding around

3:00PM | SLEIGH RIDE           

Keep close to the majestic animals in Jasper – after you’ve hopped off the dog sled, make your way over to the dock for an exciting Sleigh Ride around Pyramid Lake Island. Book in advance by phone at 780-883-0900.

4:00PM | EVENINGS AT THE EAGLE

Join a special group of skiers who just aren’t ready to leave the hill at closing time and enjoy yourself at Evening at the Eagle hosted by Marmot Basin. You’ll enjoy appys and a nice hot meal. Dinner is served at 5:00PM and you’ll get to eat, drink and be merry at the Eagle Chalet until 7:00PM when you’ll have the exciting chance to ski down the hill in the dark using headlamps to guide your way!

Sunday, January 15:


11:00AM | LEARN TO SNOWSHOE

Get those real Canadian experiences with Parks Canada and Learn to Snowshoe. They’ll cover the basics from what a snowshoe does, their cultural significance, how to walk with them, how to dress for winter weather, and how to look for terrain hazards (safety first!)

1:00PM | FIRE STARTING AND BANNOCK BAKE

The education stream just keeps on flowing as you learn the art of Fire Starting and Bannock Bake. Bring your own treats and take advantage of these warm and toasty fires before you head back to your Monday responsibilities.
