Operation Unplugged experiences Jasper adventures!

Operation Unplugged is a new show with Parks Canada, which takes technology-obsessed contestants to experience the National Parks and Heritage Sites across the country. On this week's episode, they had some awesome Jasper adventures, including wolf tracking, an ice rescue on a glacier and went mountain biking/rappelling. Jasper is definitely a great place to come to unplug - even if you have to race up Suphur Skyline! I love the shots of the scenery in this video - reminds me again how gorgeous Jasper is.

The conditions have been perfect up at Marmot Basin this year, skiers and snowboarders have been absolutely thrilled! Even though we haven’t seen much snow on the ground, it has been absolutely marvelous up on the hill.

“With over three months left to go in the ski season, Marmot Basin has already received over 12 feet (372 cm) of snowfall which is 93% of its annual average. If the next three months produce typical amounts of snowfall, Marmot Basin will exceed its all time snowfall record of 529 cm set way back in 1965.” – Marmot Basin Ski Press Release

Jasper in January has come to an end, we celebrated another great year filled with great events for everyone to enjoy.

Jasper in January has come to an end, we celebrated another great year filled with great events for everyone to enjoy. You got to see and participate in all of our signature events as well as some brand new ones! Some of my personal favourites would have to be the Polar Bear Dip, the Street Festival and the Chili Cook-Off. The outdoor experience in Jasper is unrivaled, when you mix that with the small town atmosphere in a town with very friendly and helping people, it turns into an experience you will never forget.

Jasper in January is well under way and Tourism Jasper had a chance to attend one of the most original and entertaining events in the J in J line-up, the Mountain Park Lodge’s Annual Chili Cook off! This is the first year Tourism Jasper entered a team and it was well worth it! Not only did we get to make some of the best chili, but we had a chance to sample the competitions as well.

The Canadian Rockies Snow Battle is only a week away, and we held our first Referee clinic on January 7th. It was a blast, learning the game gave us a great appreciation for the skill involved and just how much fun it can be.

We all had a chance to get involved with the game ourselves, It brings you back to your younger days horsing around with your friends and having a good time, but with a competitive edge!

the trees are up and the stockings are hung, the presents are wrapped (hopefully you’ve finished your Christmas shopping) and the kids are out of school. Everyone is in the Christmas spirit and there are plenty of great things to do in Jasper this holiday season.

Jasper will play host to the new sport of Yukigassen, the Canadian Rockies Snow Battle will be held during our annual Jasper in January Festival and are currently looking for referees for this event!
