Unsure about what to do to prepare? Here are 5 ways to make sure you’re prepped for the big day:
Arriving early on race day is a must. If you have some extra time in your schedule, we recommend coming to Jasper a day or two early to scope out the race route and adjust to the higher altitude. This will not only ensure that you enjoy Jasper and the Half Marathon in the best way possible, but will also give you a chance to get in the right headspace. Tip: The day before the race, savour the local flavour with a delicious and nutritious pre-race meal at one of Jasper’s restaurants.
Looking good will help you feel confident and ready to take on the race! Keep in mind that the weather in Jasper can be unpredictable, so bring along a wide variety of active-wear (yes, this means pants AND shorts.) Also, be sure to bring along the proper footwear – you don’t want achy feet if you’re running 21.1 km.
Whether it’s hip-hop or acoustic folk that gets you in the running mood, prepare a list of songs that will keep you motivated throughout the race.

Convince some friends to run with you, or grab a few family members to cheer you on at the finish line!
In the end, the most important thing is feeling a sense of accomplishment. Just know that after the race, you can wear your medal with pride – you deserve it!
